Back in the big city

After a pleasant stay and a VERY interesting flight out of Lukla (see video links below), we are back in the luxury and hub-bub of Kathmandu.

We are both very sad to be out of the mountains, but we have met some really wonderful people on the trail and we are in good company with our new friends and are having fun exploring the city.

If you have heard about the political unrest (or if you haven't), the Nepal national elections are to take place on November 19th.  Of course, this event comes with its own new set of challenges however our safety is NOT in jeopardy.  We will keep you all updated as we hear more information.  There is a planned national strike that is supposed to last from November 11th through the 20th that may disrupt ground travel.  But all other forms of travel will remain open and we will be able to return home as planned.

In the meantime, we went to visit the Bodhnath stupa and Patan around Kathmandu yesterday.  Here are some of the images:
