Day 4: Update from this Morning

Hi everyone!

Well, I did get a chance to Facetime with a very exhausted and dazed Jeremy earlier today.  The earthquake he witnessed was his first.  Luckily, we went over what he should do in the event of another earthquake before he left as I have been reading seismic reports and tectonic predictions for the area and knew that another quake was possible.  He is completely unharmed and doing fine, if only a little tired and shaken (bad pun).  He was in the ideal location when the quake started: outside eating lunch in an open area.  He said it was scary to watch nearby buildings sway with the violent movements of the Earth.  And, although he is still on alert to the numerous aftershocks that have already occurred and have yet to come, he feels at-ease with the sturdy construction of the hotel at which he is staying.  However, we still reviewed his plan of action in the event of another major quake...

Up until the quake today, Jer was working at the hospital, trying to enact the plans described in earlier posts.  Once the quake hit, Jer was working hard to help erect tents, hand out water, and provide relief to the people of Nepal.  He said that the city of Kathmandu sustained a little more damage, but no word has been received on the general condition of the remote villages closer to the earthquake's epicenter.  The epicenter was closer to Tsezi's house, and about half of what was left of their ruined home/lodge has slid into the river below.  Tsezi was able to connect with her mom (who is ok, as well as her dad) and hopes to reunite with them in a few days (if possible).  If she receives another picture of her destroyed house and sends it along to me, then I will update our funding site.

We didn't really discuss any plans for tomorrow.  We are just hoping that Jer gets a chance to rest tonight.

Thank you so much, everyone, for keeping Jeremy in your prayers and sending well wishes.  We appreciate it!

All our love!

-Jeremy and Tracey
