Some very sad news

It is impossible to be happy after the news we got this morning.  But, it is hard to be upset and depressed while hiking through idyllic forests, meadows, mountain valleys and small villages.  We managed to stay in both worlds today.

I am sorry to announce that Kit has stopped eating, was taken to the vets, and they found cancer.

We had hoped that our baby fuzzball was going to be there when we got home.  But our worst fear for Kitty has materialized and we have found ourselves in that situation every pet owner dreads; we will have to put her down.

She has been progressively getting sicker for a very long time now.  We just thought we had more time with her.  It is extremely hard for us to make this decision while being so far away and unable to comfort her.  But we know it is for the best; we hate to think that she is suffering.

Fittingly, the weather here in Switzerland is changing from cloudless skies to dreary rain.  I fear the next couple posts might be a little somber...
